In a story that is making headlines nationwide, (HurstAthletics, Erie Times News)  the Women’s Sports Foundation recently announced their ten finalists for the 2010 Sportswoman of the Year Team Award. Among these finalists is Mercyhurst’s own Meghan Agosta, who earlier this year was a key component of the gold medal-winning Canadian ice hockey team at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Although the mere mention of the award is significant, the list of other nominees is incredibly impressive – including professional basketball player Diana Taurasi, Team USA softball legend Jennie Finch, and Brazilian soccer player Marta Vieira de Silva.

The winner of the Sportswoman of the Year Team Award will be chosen via online voting, and we encourage Mercyhurst alumni and the college community to support Meghan by voting here.

Agosta returns for her senior season on a deep Mercyhurst squad filled with talent and widely expected to compete for the 2011 National Championship – hosted by Mercyhurst and held in Erie, Pa. during March.
