Earlier this month alumni from the men’s hockey program returned to Erie for a weekend of fun including an alumni game and a golf outing to benefit the hockey program. The event, organized with the help of the Director of Athletic Development John Melody, was held August 13-15 in Erie. The gathering kicked off with a reception at Boston’s on Peach Street Friday night, and the returnees took to the ice for a 9 a.m. alumni game on Saturday. Several hours later they were on the golf course, and finished the weekend with dinner and entertainment at Presque Isle Downs & Casino.
Rumor has it that one attendee remained true to his Mercyhurst roots and placed a wager on a horse named “Religious Education” – a bet which made a pretty penny when the 13-to-1 horse won the race. Stay tuned to this blog for coverage of additional athletic reunion events scheduled for throughout the coming academic year.
